Shri Amritlal Kalidas Doshi
(14 October, 1894 – 7 January, 1977)

Shri Amritlalbhai Kalidas Doshi was a man of unwavering faith, rooted deeply in his religious beliefs. His spiritual principles guided his every action and decision, shaping his life and work. Starting from a modest background, he rose through sheer hard work, sharp intellect, and unflinching honesty to become one of the most renowned industrialists in the country. He was known for his visionary approach, exceptional business acumen and profound knowledge of religion, he was not only a distinguished leader in the industry but also a person of great integrity and nobility. Through his industriousness and generosity, Shri Amritlalbhai became not only a symbol of success but also of compassion and service to society. His legacy serves as an inspiration for others to blend professional achievements with social responsibility.

Founder of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Jamnagar Kendra

Shri Jagubhai Doshi was a distinguished electrical engineer and the founder of Amer-Dye Chem. Ltd, a company specializing in the manufacture of dyestuffs. His dedication to the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was remarkable, with his contributions to this cultural movement being celebrated and honored. Among his many significant contributions, the establishment of the Jamnagar Kendra stands out as a lasting legacy.

Shri Jagubhai Doshi understood the critical importance of women’s education. In 1975, his generous donation facilitated the establishment of the Shri A.K. Doshi Mahila College. He donated 95,000 square feet of land and a total of Rs. 15 lakhs to commemorate his uncle, Shri A.K. Doshi. This support was crucial for the college’s creation and for advancing cultural activities.

In 1993, Shri Jagubhai Doshi further demonstrated his commitment to education by donating Rs. 25 lakhs and a plot of land to establish an English medium school in Jamnagar.

Shri Chandrakantbhai – Son of Shri Amritlal Kalidas Doshi, cousin of Shri Jagjivandas Hiralal Doshi, Chairman and Managing Director of Amritlal Chemaux Ltd. –His subjects of interest were business, religion and philosophy. His great foresight used to prepare an advance solution for future times and circumstances. He strongly maintained the legacy of refinement, always finding a way out of any situation and his solution after analyzing with complete calmness. The aroma of his deeds spread everywhere. Indeed, he was “Vatsalya – murthy” in real sense. His art of mingling with the little people, the poor, kids and all of them made all his works into a melodious category. Shri Chandrakantbhai was well-known and highly regarded in the chemicals and dyestuff industry. He proudly received “Export and Quality Awards” on behalf of Amritlal Chemaux Ltd.  He was deeply involved in Jain philosophical research and writings. Shri Chandrakantbhai authored many books on Jain Philosophy and also the biographies of his father Shri A. K. Doshi and his cousin Shri J. H. Doshi.  Shri Chandrakantbhai was chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan – Jamnagar Kendra. His tenure as chairman was marked by his significant contributions of time guidance and financial resources to social and educational institutions.

Through his numerous charitable donations, Bhanubhai Doshi supported various social causes, uplifting the lives of countless individuals and families. Bhanubhai Doshi’s 21-year [ 2001-2022] tenure as chairman of Bhavan’s Jamnagar Kendra further underscores his passion for education and community development. His leadership and guidance helped shape the institution into a beacon of knowledge and excellence. Bhanubhai Doshi’s remarkable life serves as a shining example of the transformative power of philanthropy and selfless service.
